About the event

ALL WELCOME, EVEN THOSE WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY BAAC MEMBERS!

Join us on Tuesday, June 4th, 202 11:00am-12:00pm for our first Quarterly Meeting of the year!

Quimby Lee and Andy Dakopolos will present on and discuss their research on the topic: "Sex Differences in Autism: new insights from behavior, neuroimaging, and genetics."

Quimby is a fourth year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Group at UC Davis, where she is co-mentored by Dr. Audrey Fan, in the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Neurology, and Dr. Christine Wu Nordahl at the MIND Institute. She received her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at UC San Diego, where she conducted research using eye-tracking as a prognostic tool for autism. After graduating, she worked on the ABCD study at SRI International. Her current research optimizes measures of cerebrovascular function using resting-state functional MRI in pediatric and autistic populations.

Andy is a postdoctoral scholar working under the direction of Dr. Christine Wu Nordahl and Dr. David Hessl. Andy received his Ph.D. in Intellectual Disability and Autism from Columbia University. He holds an M.S. in Applied Statistics from Teachers College, as well as an M.A. in Teaching from Willamette University. Andy’s background is in education, and he has over 10 years of experience teaching special education. Andy currently focuses on cognitive measurement and assessment of individuals with intellectual disability, including those who are also autistic. His work aims to better characterize cognitive profiles of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with the goals of improving our understanding of cognitive trajectories in development, characterizing cognitive phenotypes in autistic individuals, and better informing educational placement, programming, goals and interventions.

Louie-David is a visiting graduate at UCSF in the Weiss Lab, which he joined in September 2023. He has a Bachelor of Life and Environmental Sciences at AgroParisTech, a French engineering school specializing in biology. He is currently doing a gap year at UCSF during his MS in Mathematics Applied to Life Sciences. During this year, he has been working on the sex differential heritability of ASD using genomic data.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME, EVEN IF NOT A MEMBER (However, we encourage you to become a member by signing up HERE)!

Please RSVP, so we have an idea of how many attendees to expect! Zoom info info will be distributed in advance of the event.
